Facing my fears
Yesterday, was so crazy, it was our trip to Tikal. I did not know that there was so much to the Myan history. On our way to the rain forest we stopped at a store where the our tour guild told us that if we buy something that the money goes to a school that they are supporting. He said that the school had no desk, before the store, for the children to write on. He also told us how they make gum and showed us a hugh slab of it. It look like a hugh log and not gum. Also he took us by the school and told us that there are 82 students in that school and only two teaches and one class room. So 41 students face one way and learn and the other 41 face the other way and thats how they have there class. We also went to a lake where when you look at the mountain behind it it is shaped like a aligater. After that we were on our way to the rain forest. It took about an hour and twenty minutes to get there. Once we got there we road p to the parking lot and started the adventure. Knowing me I do not like bugs so that was the first fear that I faced. Even time I turned around there was something flyig in my ear. When we got to the ruins it was so beautiful. To some people it may look like some old run down building but when you get to the temples it´s a whole nother story. My next three fears wher climbing the temples. The stps were so steep that I felt like I was going to fall. I started to hipervenalt on temple number five and that wasn´t even the highst temple. The highest temple was number four and that one was easier than number five to climb, but on all I made sure to stay away from the edge. While walking we saw Spider Monkeys, Tucans and all types of insects. It was crazy. I think that our tour guild was lying to us because I kept hearing a noise that sound like a Puma and he kept telling us it was the Spider Monkeys. It did not sound like no moonkeys because monkeys do not growl. By the end of the tour I was itching so bad because it started raining whild climbing up temple four. I can say that this trip is getting better and better lets see what happens our last week here.

Up The Volcano
Wensday was so crazy, we actually walked up a volcano. Well at least made an attemp to. Our home stay lady told us that it would not be an inclime that it would be a straight walk. YEAH....RIGHT. It took us an hour and a half to get there. While going up the volcano on the bus the veiw was so beautiful. All you could see were the clouds and the towns all the way at the bottom. As soon as we got there these little kids kept trying to sell us sticks for the walk. At first I was like why dod we need sticks if it is a strate run, now I see why. I was not even wlaking five minutes when it started to feel like I couldn´t breat, my legs started ti hurt. For me to be so little I am totally ou of shape. I tried my hardest to make it up the volcano with a horse, but after they ept telling we was almost there and I felt like we were getting nowhere. I got my butt on that horse so fast for 60Q it was worth it because if I didn´t I would have not made it. Then once we got to the top the view was so amazing you could see all the different volcanos that were round us. It was a least three more volcanos that you could see while up there. The lava rocks were so sharp I fell twice and cut my leg, my hand and my ancle. It was crazy, but it was fun. On the up to the top of the vocano I saw lava in the rocks. It was so hot that people shoes started to melt. I messed my pastries up. Our tour guild told us to go up a little further so that we could see that lava flow. When I got there I never thought that in a million years that me of all people would be at the top of the volcano looking and taking pictures of actual lava. The whole trip to the top was so amazing. Now the trip back down was a different story. On the was down Sabril twisted his ancle and fractured a rib, and Tyquan broke something in his foot. We were suppose to be out of there by dark but since everyon decided to wait for Sab it toof even longer. It does not take six people to help one person down a volcano, thats what makes it take even longer than it has to. While waiting for the rest of our class mated to get down the volcano lava started shooting out the top of the volcano. OnceI saw that I siad it was every man for himself and I was out of there.
The walk back down the mountain was better than wlaking up. It wasn´t as tiring, but it was still hard. People kept falling because they could not see becaus eby now it was pitch black and you could see nothing about without a falshlight. Plus it was staring to get every cold. Once we were all down the mountain it was time to go and I was ready because I was tired and sleepy and as much as I eat, surprisingly I was not hungry. Yeah I know on my last blog I said that it was boring and there is nothing to do, but doing things like this is worth being here.

Second day of Guatemala
It's the second day that I've been here and it's ok. I want to go home because to me there is nothing to do down here. It is so boring and it rains everyday. It's nothing to really do out here except for school and go to the market and shop but there is nothing here that I want. Tommorrow we are suppose to be going to walk up a volcano atleast that is something that I am looking forwrd to then this weekend we are going to the rain forest. I guess I'm just stressed out that's thereal reason why I want to go home. It's not that I'm sick it's other problems. If I was not having these problems maybe it will be better. The food here is ok. I don't really eat what the family cooks because I'm a pickey eatter and I do not eat everyones cooking. I only eat it when it is something that I know what it is. I will survive though because they do have McDonalds and Burger King out here so thats good. Hopefully it will get better and I will have more fun than I am now. The living experience is crazy Me, LiAsia, Charnise and Brianna all slept in the same room for the first two nights because we were to scared to sleep alone. They do not have t.vs or cable this is killing me good thing I baught mu portable DVD player with me and my ipod or I would have been domed. I lovbe the Spanosh classes they are so fun. Even though the teacher barly speaks english I understand what she is saying because she uses her hands. The work is not as hard as I thought it would be. Some of the materials that we are learning now we learned them in Spanish class in school. Being here is ok, but I wish it wasn't two weeks.

Leaving the country
Hi my name is Nicole and this is my first time leaving from out of the USA. Along with a couple of others from my school we are going to explore a new adventure in Guatemala. It's for a study abroad program for us to learn Spanish. I am so excited it's enough to just learn Spanish, but in a different country wow. Being a student at MetEast High School we receive a chance to explore all types of passions and interest. With the internships class trips to different colleges/universities and now different countries. Many schools can not say that they had a chance to explore the world, but at least a few of us Camden students can. I am really looking forward to seeing the different lifestyle and the culture. Plus being the person that I am I really want to see what type of food that they eat because the only thing that I know is rice and beans. I know that it is going to be a great adventure especially because I'm going with a group of people that I know I'm going to have fun with. What I really wounder is how the Spanish classes are going to be. Since I really do not speak Spanish that well I really hope that the whole classes will not be in Spanish. I know it's going to be hard being away from home and the people I love, but even though I will not be able to communicate with them on a daily basses they will be able to see and read about my every day adventure along with pictures.
